MIE has been hired by the Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati, under a Legal Services
Corporation Technology Innovation Grant, to create a national structure to provide evaluation
technical assistance and standards to 2000 and 2001 recipients of the LSC TIG program. This
project is called the Technology Evaluation Project (TEP). It will result in:
specific instruments for data collection, both quantitative and qualitative
evaluation standards providing ongoing guidance for legal services programs on the evaluation of technology projects
training of program staff on evaluation techniques
ongoing technical support on evaluation.
|
The National Advisory Committee will participate in setting the overall director of TEP, working with the TEP project manager, the TEP evaluation professional, the MIE executive director and the MIE Board of Directors. It will be comprised of recognized leaders in technology and management inside the legal services community and outside the legal services community, as well as representatives of programs who will be the end users of an evaluation system.
In particular the National Advisory Committee, in conjunction with the TEP project manager, will review information collected from legal services programs, from technology evaluation resources in the broader nonprofit community, and from their collective experiences, and will draft standards for the process of evaluation of technology projects in legal services programs. It also will widely disseminate standards as they are being developed, and will receive comments from the legal services community. When standards have been developed, members of the National Advisory Committee may participate in the training and technical support of legal services programs in their evaluation efforts.
