Additional Information: Join us for MIE's National Directors Conference "Building Better Programs: An Opportunity for Reflection and Action," September 27 - 29, 2007. The conference will take place at the Ambassador East Hotel, 1301 North State Parkway, Chicago, IL 60610, 312-787-7200. Please note that it will begin with registration at noon and the opening plenary at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday the 27th. You may wish to have lunch before your arrive at the conference. The conference will conclude at 12:30 p.m. Saturday the 29th.
In preparation for Peter Brinckerhoff's presentation "Generations: The Challenge of a Lifetime for Your Legal Aid Program," you may wish to bring to the conference available data on the ages of your staff members and the ages of your clients.
Here is a special invitation to newer executive directors and managers: "I couldn't tie my shoes in 1969 but they gave me the job anyway..." Managing the 50+ somethings and the 20 somethings from the middle -Tweenie ED's. Does this sound familiar? Have you heard yourself saying things like "I understand you reject hierarchy but I'll need to see that workplan" ? If you are a newer ED or manager you may be faced with supervising and directing folks who are significantly older and younger than you are. Join us for continental breakfast and some serious and not so serious conversation on Saturday morning, September 29th, 7:30 – 8:30 am. Tweenies and everyone else welcome! Bring your expertise and your questions!!! Help us find the way to effective intergenerational management at legal services!!!!
